Who Cares about Values!?

You do and so does everyone else.  The problem is most of us don’t know what our own values are.

Yet, our values drive our actions and behaviors.  Values directly affect our quality of life and the amount of conflict we experience.

But, if we don’t know what our values are, then we only experience them through our reactions.  Then we try to make sense of those reactions by thinking, ruminating, and sharing.

Here’s a shortcut:  Learn Your Values

Answer these three questions to help you uncover your values:

  1. What are the things that you must have in your life to be fulfilled?

  2. What behaviors, actions, or attitudes do you find you judge others for?

  3. What do you always have handled? (i.e. “I always take care of the finances,” “I never miss an opportunity to travel,” “I always make sure everyone is safe, okay, and happy, etc.”)

Does this help you to make more sense of your reactions to people, places, and events?

Here’s the next level cheat:

Now ask yourself, are my values being met and honored, or are they being dishonored or stomped on?

Leaders and Values

Good leaders understand their values; great leaders understand the values of others and recognize that they are not the same as their own.

I help leaders discover their values, see where those values are being met and honored, dishonored, or manifested destructively.  If you want to lead at the next level, you need to know your values and how they drive your actions and behavior.
